Rails Restaurant in Lewiston Maine dishes up Farm to Fork cuisine and is located in the historic Grand Trunk Station.

Grand Trunk Station was once a crossroads for travelers and the ultimate destination for the people who built Lewiston+Auburn. Today the station is back online as Rails restaurant, a crossroads of cultural flavors and a destination point for lovers of industrial Maine’s local-food tradition.

In a railroad-chic setting, diners enjoy Lewiston+Auburn family favorites with a playful twist, alongside innovative railway-inspired comfort food dishes.

Local + Motive

Local+Motive means we recognize our role in both the local food system, and the local economy.raisl pic2

Lewiston+Auburn’s industrial identity in farm-rich rural Maine makes it an exciting local food destination.  We are proud to be a part of preserving a healthy farming economy, while nourishing a thriving industrial center.

We’ve sought out Maine’s finest culinary artisans, distillers, and brewers for even more “Maine Line” flavor. Each of the culinary artisans we work with has a pride in their craft, and in Maine, that you’ll taste in our dishes.

When bringing ingredients from “farther down the line,” we are committed to standards that support the local farmers and craftspeople of the region.

railspicWe recognize our role in a healthy food system. Our kitchen scraps are returned to the farm to supplement the healthy diet of farm animals, and our fryer oil is recycled to make clean-burning fuels. When we pick up our kegs from Lively’s brewery, we take their spent grains to our farm to feed our pigs.

We are proud to employ students of both The Green Ladle and The Franklin School cooking programs, providing apprenticeship opportunities in the culinary arts, and supporting local youth to become leaders and innovators in the future of L+A’s burgeoning food scene.

After months of not getting a reservation we finally ate there. My wife ordered the lobster roll.. with no mention on the menu, a lobster roll with onions and celery came out. After watching her pick the ver few pieces of lobster out inssites she order something else. She then got the filet. So I had ordered the filet and lobster tail.. both the filets were over cooked, and sliced.
needless to sy, if your going to spend 100 bucks, fishbones is a better environment, experience and meal.
